WHIPS: TOYOTA LANDCRUISER

[Images 1, 2 from A Well Traveled Woman, Image 3, 4 by CGM for Broho Style]

If you've read my past few "whips" posts, it should come as no surprise that I am obsessed with vintage Toyota Landcruisers.  Ever since I first saw one at the beach in Amagansett, NY eight years ago it has been my dream to own one of these SUVs.  Sure, they're relatively impractical in certain situations, like my current 30 minute, highway dominate work commute, but that doesn't mean I can't obsess about owning one at some point down the road (pun intended).  I mean it would be the perfect future beach car to go with my perfect future beach cottage.  So when I recently saw the bottom green beauty nestled in the side streets of German Village, Columbus I audibly squealed with excitement and demanded that my friend Caitlin pull over the car so I could snag a photo.  I even left this small note on the dash, expressing my adoration for their vehicle and telling them if they were ever interested in selling to call me.  But seriously.  A girl can dream, right?

CRIBS: BARK BOX

[Image by CGM for Broho Style]

I don't know about you, but I am obsessed with my dog, Lily (see above).  She is a coton de tulear and, quite frankly, the center of the family.  She just has such a huge personality for such a little nugget, that, despite her (frequent) unruly behavior, you can't help but love her and laugh at her antics.  I think this is how most people feel about their dogs (right?) so it's only logical to want to dote on her frequently and shower her with little pressies.  That is why I think Bark Box is such a great idea. Simply by choosing the size of your dog, you can subscribe to a monthly giftbox filled with toys and treats catered to their breeds, for just $19! Think Birch Box for pups, and if you don't know about Birch Box, click here.  As for me, I know my little critter would love this idea and is already thinking about the best way to de-fluff that poor little lamb. Maybe we could consider it an early 7th birthday present? She barks in agreement.

THREADS: SOFT PANTS

Recently I have been fixated on the idea of soft pants.  You know--those pajama inspired pants that were all over the S/S runway but looked a little too trendy to actually wear off the catwalk? Well, unlike most trends of this vein, that I simply admire from afar, I have actually been looking for ways to work this item into my wardrobe for months now.  Something about it just screams broho.  Maybe its the way that, when outfitted correctly, they look equally wearable at the beach and at the bar?  I don't know but I do know that I will be wearing them this summer, regardless of the teasing commentary of my friends.  How will I outfit them? Probably in one of the ways seen above where it just looks so bohemian-ly effortless.  Because let's face it, I'm all about effortless.

MOODS: NAUTICAL LONGING

[Images in top row from Cape Cod Collegiate, Bottom Row from Anthropologie, unknown, and C. Wonder; compilation by CGM for Broho Style]

Today I woke up with an overwhelming urge to be beach side.  I'm not sure if it's the Monday or the particularly shitty weather (a full 37 degrees when I woke up this morning) but all day long I just couldn't stop thinking of the ocean.  My favorite place in the world is nestled on a dirt road, steps from a wooden boardwalk that plops me directly onto the hot sand.  It's a place filled with family, good food, bonfires, and free running pups--what's not to love? Happy Monday, y'all.

UPDATE: 101 THINGS

Here it is--another update on my little 2.75 year bucket list.  I find that while I write to y'all almost every day about things that I like, I rarely provide updates on things that I do. I guess I haven't quite yet figured out exactly how much of my personal life I want to share with the world but that's a topic for another time.  In the interim, I've grown quite fond of my little 'update' feature, which attempts to provide a little color on new things I've been pushing myself to experience at any given time.  Since my last update, I've crossed two items off of the list and have made some headway on a few others.  Let's get down to it.

9.     Read forty new books [7/40]

Since my last update I've read two more books--Pillars of the Earth and Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail.  The first chronicles the interconnected story of builder and monk as they realize their dreams of building a cathedral in medieval England.  Peppered with battle, lost love, death, famine, and political unrest the story is realistic and yet captivating in its narrative.  The second book focuses on a much different topic--one woman's tale of personal discovery on the PCT.  Also peppered with antidotes of lost love, hunger, and death, this story has the power to instill some serious wanderlust if you, like me, have ever spent a summer amongst the mountains.  Both come highly recommended.

51. Go to ten concerts [2/10; Zac Brown Band; Timeflies Tuesday; Taylor Swift]

This past week I went to the Taylor Swift concert at Nationwide Arena with my friend Alex.  It was one of my first true "pop" concert experiences and boy was it good.  Alex and I were definitely some of the oldest people in attendance who were not there accompanying their offspring but no matter.  There was no line for beer and we spent two solid hours singing along at the top of our lungs and loving every minute.

79.  Inspire someone to make their own list [Nachelle, April 2013]

I am so excited to share with you my friend Nachelle's list of 101 things to do in 1001 days! She began the list after I published mine and she has given me permission to share it with y'all here.  If you're thinking of writing your own, I'd highly suggest it--you can even steal some of Nachelle's great ideas below.  And when you're done--send it my way as I'd love to share it with everyone!

[Images by Bill for Broho Style]

I finally made my way to the shooting range last month and had such a great time I don't know how it took me so long to do it. I went with my good friend, Bill, who has a small arsenal in his possession so I was test driving all different kinds of guns.  My favorites happened to be a Colt1911 (seen on the left) and this semi-automatic rifle (right).  And, if I allow myself one minute to toot my own horn, I wasn't half bad.

BFTB: GOLF EDITION

[Compilation by CGM for Broho Style]

Now that the weather is finally warming up around here I find that a lot of my male counterparts are gravitating toward the golf course. I can't blame them--I'd be out on the green too if I had any type of hand-eye coordination whatsoever.  Putting my personal shortcomings aside, earlier this week, as I was anticipating the start of the US Open, I caught myself thinking that, while I love watching golf for many reasons--the skill, the commentary, the natural beauty, and Adam Scott--I also love watching it for the fashion.  I can't really explain why but the classic, preppy style most often seen on the course's men has always resonated with my tomboy, 'bro' self. Maybe it's the simplicity of it all-- a pair of pants, a polo, and a hat are really all you need out there--but regardless of the reason, I often find myself envious of men's golfing attire.  Above are some prime examples--I mean those belts and that hat are perfect.  And, if we're being honest, who doesn't have a little soft spot in their heart for Bubba?

BAGGAGE: FALCONWRIGHT

[All images from Falconwright]

Say hello to my latest obsession du jour--these cute little leather clutches from Falconwright.  A Toronto based brand, Falconwright was founded by two best friends who used their combined expertise (one is a screenmaker, the other a sewer) to create these colorful little masterpieces.  Their S/S 2013 line is packed with peppy conversationals and geometric patterns that would add the perfect amount of interest to my otherwise neutral summer ensembles. My personal favorite? These pineapples.  Yum.
